I Am Alive Announced, Billed as 'Edgy New Survival-Adventure,' First Trailer Hits
by Chris Faylor, Jul 15, 2008 3:47pm PDTI Am Alive, supposedly the next title from celebrated Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond, was formally announced at an Ubisoft press event today.
Described as an "edgy new survival-adventure," the title is due out on current generation systems--likely PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360--next spring. No developer was named in today's announcement, though it had previously been rumored that Cold Fear veterans Darkworks were handling the game.
"When Chicago is left in ruins and the cause of the devastation is unknown, players will be challenged to think, react and take risks that will directly affect themselves and those around them," wrote publisher Ubisoft.
Correction: Ubisoft has denied Raymond's supposed involvement, telling Eurogamer "Jade Raymond is not involved in I Am Alive at any level."

I think she probably deserves lots of credit for the quality level of AC (and it was a polished, if deeply, deeply flawed game), but let's not kid ourselves here...she's a producer, not a designer, and this isn't "her" game by any means.
If I were the lead designer on Assassin's Creed, I would have been pretty pissed by how much credit JR appeared to take for the game (even if it came from Ubisoft's PR department, that's the public perception).
I'm a producer, and I sure as heck don't want that kind of credit for any game I work on. Producing != designing. Not by a long shot.

At the same time, we actually have people here on this site praising Epic, makers of UT and GoW, as being one of the most innovative developers out there. To me, that doesn't really add up.
I think that this game, at least thematically, looks extremely interesting. How it will play is obviously way too early to say, but people slagging off the game just because some silly girl is producing it, just strikes me as silly and insincere.

I know it's too early to pass judgement, but we're already getting "Jade Raymond's" headlines and I'm already willing to pass on this.

talking about Jade Raymond.
Why give a stuff about who is directing producing etc?
Did you all not see how amazing this trailer is?
As it is, I am not completely sure that that is in game footage.. looks far too good.
Also I am scared that it will be one of those typical adventure games where you click with
the mouse where you want your hero to go... lol.
Or is this 3rd person? If so - then I'm in. This game looks so good I'll gladly invite
securom into my computer. ( It looks good enough to be worth re-installing windows for, after
I've played it. And anyway.. windows vista may handle securom better than XP.. so I'll see
what happens )

If not, can we get some Jade Raymond's Persona Whoring and Canadian Tentacle Rape Simulator?
