Resident Evil 5 Due March 13, Online Co-op Demoed

During Microsoft's press briefing today, Capcom announced a March 13, 2009 release date and showed off a live demonstration of Resident Evil 5 (PS3, 360), confirming the presence of online co-op play within the game.

The other player assumes the role of Sheva, Chris Redfield's new partner in the BSAA. They are in Africa investigating a "bioterrorism incident."

The two characters were shown working together to take down a variation of fast and slow zombies. Gameplay resembled Resident Evil 4, with the final reveal being a chainsaw enemy reminiscent of the sack-headed enemies seen in the previous title.

I really had the RE series written off but RE4 was so unbelievably good. I'm all over this even if it's just the same thing with better graphics & new scenario. Good that they have CoOp, I played so much Gears CoOp, this should be fun!

Yipes, did it get delayed? Hopefully it'll be for the best, ala Resident Evil 4...didn't they completely scrap ~80% of the game a year before release or something?
