New Rock Band 2 Songs and Details Arrive: RATM, Steve Miller Band, Bon Jovi, Billy Idol, More

Following up on the initial list of Rock Band 2 tracks revealed earlier this week, a few more songs and details have been revealed in the latest issue of Game Informer magazine.

  • Bon Jovi - "Livin' on a Prayer"
  • Steve Miller Band - "Rock 'n Me"
  • Rage Against the Machine - "Testify"
  • Billy Idol - "White Wedding Pt. 1"
  • Joan Jett - "Bad Reputation"
  • Avenged Sevenfold - "Almost Easy"
  • Social Distortion - "I Was Wrong"
Several of those tracks previously appeared in a purportedly leaked list, one that appears to be gaining validity as more details emerge.

According to the magazine, other improvements to the game include a redesigned drum peripheral, with quieter, velocity-sensitive pads, a metal-reinforced drum pedal, and expansion slots for cymbals.

A limited edition Ion drum kit will also be released. The deluxe kit will feature four sturdy pads and three cymbals, and will apparently function as a real electronic drum kit outside of the game.

More details follow:

  • A Jukebox mode will allow players to listen to their songs outside of gameplay.
  • The game will feature a track selection screen reminiscent of the current Rock Band music store.
  • Lag calibration is now more user-friendly, and will include an auto-calibration mode.
  • The guitar has been redesigned, with quieter buttons and a less squishy strum bar.
  • Instruments can now be "tuned" during the band loading screen, allowing players to pound or strum away while waiting.
  • The merchandise store is still coming for both Rock Band and the sequel.
  • Rock Band 2 will include a photo mode which will allow you to pose your characters and add visual effects before uploading the shots to RockBand.com.

Developed by Harmonix, the instrument-based sequel is due on Xbox 360 this September, with PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Wii versions hitting later in the year.

The PS3 and 360 versions will be compatible with the prolific amount of Rock Band downloadable content released thus far on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and DLC released after the sequel hits will continue to work with the first game.

As long as this new kit works with RB1, then I'm trading my current one for it as soon as possible!
