Evening Reckoning

So who's going out for the new iPhone tomorrow? While the 2.0 applications are mostly excellent--I highly recommend PhoneSaber--I'm not sure what to grab gaming-wise. Anyone tried the EA version of Tetris? How about Monkey Ball? Worth the dough?

On the way in to work I noticed the flashing lights behind me, just as I was about to exit the freeway. I was riding my motorcycle, 2003 R6, and actually moving fairly slowly (riding in #1 lane and going about the same speed as traffic in #2, about 73). I know some cops are not particularly fond of sport bikes, but I was still a little surprised that I was being pulled over.
So, I pull over, take off my helmet, turn off bike, etc. The two officers walk over and the conversation went something like this.
Officer: License and registration please... Is the address on your license your current residence?
Me: Yes, sir, it is.
Officer: Did you know you were speeding back there? I had you going about 80mph.
Me: No, officer. I was not aware, but thank you for pulling me over.
Officer: There have been a lot of accidents recently and we are trying to make sure everyone is safe.
Me: Thank you officer. Safety is my #1 concern on the road especially when riding my motorcycle.
Officer: Ok, we are just giving you a verbal warning. Watch your speed out there.
Me: Thank you, officer.
Officer: Have a nice day.
I am now 3 out of 4 for getting away with a just a warning for speeding! It's amazing what a difference it makes just being polite.

I want to play Dawn Of War, I cannot because.... well, because Securom says I should insert the original (which I did) rather than a backup.

I'm torn between Druid and Rogue right now. I've never reached the high levels and I plan to this time around, and I want to do PvP and PvE, but mostly PvP. I've taken both classes to 40 and enjoyed them both immensely but I always flipflopped between the two and I want to definitely commit to one this tie around. But I hear Rogues have some problems in the end-game?
On the one hand, I like being able to have multiple roles. I am a huge fan of tanking and DPS, and Druid allows me to do both with little loss. But on the other hand, Rogue is so much goddamn fun. I feel like a ninja that can take on just about any encounter and come out just about unscathed. I love all the tools and tricks I get to avoid, disrupt, and escape encounters.
Druids have heals, and it's great to be able to use those to get some additional longevity, but the lack of any control besides endurance is frustrating. But again, I have so many different styles at my fingertips that it's hard to give that up.

AMSTERDAM SHACKMEET AHEAD
I'm hitting the Netherlands for job interviews and want to see Amsterdam and the local shackers on July 17. It's my first time there, so I have no idea what to do where, that's totally up to you locals! The same goes for what time to meet where.
I might also be able to do the 16th if the 17th isn't okay for most of you. Punch and Appelflappen.

Well the pain finally hit its high water mark and is coming down faster than it went up, which is really good. I can sit and exist without painkillers for the first time in 10 days. Could not eat or drink without them though, but this much change is dramatic.
Spending 45 minutes each morning hacking my lungs up. Went back into the hospital but they say this is "good" ... a few days left on the antibiotics. So overall the pnemonia feels worse than it's ever been but they say it's better, so I guess that's good.
I've lost 8 pounds in 10 days. Not recommended.
Overall, feels good to be finally improving, two days ago I was contemplating a bullet to end this hell.
Breakfast awaits! A piece of toast. Should tide me over until tomorrow. Gotta go eat.

Madvillainy by Madvillain (AKA MF Doom) has been my favorite rap album for a long time now. I think it's because it does alot of things different than most rap music that I've listened to. It doesn't rely on hooks, it features very short songs that are almost snippets of full tracks and is just generally weirder and more innovative than most other rap coming out today. I dig it.
That being said I hadn't listened to much of MF Dooms other stuff. Just this week I started listening to MM.. Food quite a bit and I'm loving it.
I think my favorite thing about rap music as a whole is the amazing things rap songs can do with samples. For me the debate on whether it takes much skill to make rap music is a totally moot point. It's the end result that matters and if the song is great I couldn't care less how much talent it took to make it. The song matters, not what went into it.
One sample in particular on MM.. Food is simply amazing. It's from a cover of the Bowie song Space Oddity by a guy named David Mathews. Not to be confused with Dave Mathews. He did some of the music for the Lynch version of Dune. I've been playing both tracks back to back all night and I'm really digging both.
So without further ado I'd like you, YES YOU, to listen to MF Doom - Rap Snitch Knishes ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZwQSbpOU_k ) and also the David Mathews cover of Space Oddity ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1j7IX5epMk) The part Doom sampled begins somewhere around 2:10. Try to track down non-youtube versions if you can. They sound way better obviously. Youtube does no justice to rap bass lines.
Can you dig it?

Between the full Rock Band kit and all of the DLC as well as the upcoming limited edition drum kit for Rock Band 2 I estimate that this silly game is going to cost me roughly 1 billion dollars, give or take a few.
http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11340
So many useful improvements to the game, I won't mind giving them more money.
If I had to find something to complain about I guess it'd be about the lack of a hi-hat pedal. Hopefully they at least designed it so one can be added if they ever go that route.

I have a massive game boner for PS3 now. I've only got the Wii so far this generation... But I think my next paycheck will be put towards a PS3. It's starting to look like a good value finally... Not a lot of exclusives, but plenty of 3rd party support from multiplatform games. Plus a few exclusives that sound like must haves... FF13, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet...
Am I wrong for stoking this game boner?? E3 is just gonna make it worse, and I'll end up with blue balls...
