  • Are they going to include the features they cut from the first game? Got pretty hyped for the first one and then the chopped the game in half. Didn't feel finished for me after that.

This game was originally going to be fallout meets morrowind. A nonlinear first person rpg with vehicles and a skills system. The way they gated into canyons for the loading screens between zones was really annoying. Side quests generated MMO style, Trade wasn't useful. Didn't witness the living world, myself. Stealth system broken in places.

On the flip side, the set pieces were absolutely fantastic, the shooting model my favorite of any game thus far, and the pacing a nice change.

How high do we set our expectations?

    • Hopefully quite high -- a lot of the stuff they originally put in was left in but disabled. The mod community has done amazing stuff in terms of unshackling the A-life system, and re-enabling the blowouts and vehicles etc, The territory fights should be pretty cool, there's a mod for the original that implemented them well.

The underlying downfall of Stalker's life "simulation" for me is that 95% of the characters spawned in the game are assigned to what GSC term smart terrains- designated parts of the map with designated types of NPCs and creatures belonging to them, which is why you tend to see the same areas populated with the same groups.
