Mega Man 9 Screens, Details Emerge
by Aaron Linde, Jul 03, 2008 11:09am PDTSeveral new screens and details of Capcom's Mega Man 9 (Wii) were revealed on GamesRadar, showing off series creator Keiji Inafune's 8-bit downloadable sequel.
"For the first time in many years, we are developing an 8-bit game," said Inafune. "This opportunity has awoken my spirit as a game designer. I've stepped closer to the designing team to get more hands-on with the graphics and game design. I've been more involved in the actual creation process this time, and even designed the bosses!"
In addition to several items appearing in previous NES Mega Man titles, Mega Man 9 will also include a shop where players can buy items such as new armor, spike shoes that protect against one-hit kills, and energy balancers.
The game is slated for a September release in Japan, according to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. A North American localization is likely to follow soon thereafter.

i.e. Have they actually written a new game for the NES that they're going to let people play via emulation on the Wii, or have they written a Wii game that just looks like an NES game?
It seems insane either way, but it'd be interesting if they actually made a new NES game now. (Not interesting as in "I'm interested in buying this," though. I've never played the older Megaman games so I could start with them but and I'm not likely to bother at this late stage.)

This is a Mega Man game, not Mega Man X, Mega Man Legends or Mega Man Purple Monkey Dishwasher.
The first six Mega Man games were level after level of awesome. Then the series went south (IMO) with Mega Man 7 on the SNES and Mega Man 8. Now they're doing a new Mega Man game and they want it to look and feel like the original, old school Mega Man games.
Besides, it's not like there's not more Mega Man games to choose from:

let us old school choads have this one

Don't give me some weak ass argument about how so many developers these days forget about gameplay while trying to make a game look "good". The truth is that those are shitty developers.
What good developers would do is make a game with terrific gameplay as well as awesome graphics. I understand that this is a nostalgic throwback to the 8-bit NES days, but this just looks like shit. I don't care if it reminds people of the old days. There is a reason graphics were ungodly terrible in the old days. Now don't get me wrong, im not asking for some 3D rpg elements catastrophe to occur. But would it have really hurt so bad to take it back to old school gameplay, with a couple new twists, same art style and art design, except give us high resolution art assets.
Oh well, Ill give it a whirl, but I doubt ill play past the first level or so, ill just keep hoping and dreaming for my Mega Man X Reboot with the HD graphics overhaul.

Don't get me wrong I love MegaMan but this may be the dumbest idea ever.
I won't lie I sold my Wii and I am not a fan but come on they could of at least used the pimp Bionic Commando Rearmed engine for this game it would be perfect for it.
Why would you not use the Bionic Commando Rearmed engine anyone...?
Come on Wii fans start bitching don't take it up the ass. Your system is not this week at all come on, I think this is pointless personally.
LOL and Diablo 3 fans are bitching about the graphics.... LOL

So rather than hiding the fact that they simply play on people's nostalgia to sell games by hiding it with slightly newer graphics engines, they are in fact just openly saying "You will buy it because its mega man".
