Morning Discussion

Well aren't you just looking perky today. The least I can do is oblige you with a fresh chatty. So Soul Calibur 1 has been released for the 360, but has no mission mode? Isn't that like having an RV with the furniture all stripped out? And if you're a parent who lets children play online with no supervision, well oh noes. Another oh noes for Sony with the 2.40 firmware update for the PS3 bricking a notable number, hopefully they get that figured out right quick. Plus all this Diablo talk inspired Nick, and thus we have an appropriate Replay Couch for you. I mean, it's quicker than doing another Baal run, no?

But seriously, I am still psyched for Chrono Trigger DS here. That is the cat's pajamas.

Really? But 2D is what's *right* about it.

I'd actually like a 2D remake, with higher resolution sprites and backgrounds. Would be really cool.

I might. I don't know, I really like the chunkiness of 8/16-bit art. They'd really really have to make the visual hold up.

Well it's just that I play the original all the time. I'd kind of like to see a remake to spruce things up, whether it's superior or not. I mean FFIV DS might not look amazing graphically, but the thought of seeing a brand new version of it is exciting.

eg. the remake of river city ransom was atrocious

I'm really not a fan of the FF7-style 3D graphics that some of the newer FF titles have been getting. If they remake this in 2D on the DS it'll live as long as the DS does. and longer. You can always go back and play it because it'll always look good. Not so for 3D art, imo.

I don't think they were changing the gameplay... it was all about the graphical overhaul. The game is great because of the story and pre-established game. The artwork in the 2d game was really good, but the 3d one just looked better. *shrug*

Ahh 1996. Back when people weren't afraid to use color in 3d games.

Also, the project director is named Nathan Laser so you know it would be a wicked game.

That's the best part! I can't believe it'll be out this holiday season in NA. I would have guessed next spring at the earliest.
