Double D Dodgeball Trailer Betrays Expectations

Publisher Yuke's Company of America has released a new trailer for its downloadable title Double D Dodgeball, in development for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade platform.

Double D Dodgeball brings a new futuristic presentation to the classic playground sport, and features both Eastern and Western dodgeball rules in matches for up to eight players online.

The game will be priced at 800 Microsoft Points ($10) when it debuts on July 30.

This game looks like utter craptastical nonsense. It's like that one game you can get that has all those pretty explosions with techno music that you can only enjoy if you are wacked out on acid.

It would appear that the only thing you need to have in your game to get on XBLA is a team of 20 or more particle effects people to create the most spastic assortment of explosions ever seen. Why does every XBLA game have to have so many effects all over the place? Is it just to mask the lack of content in the game? Wait, I just answered my own question.....

Apparently in the future they don't have to worry too much about animating characters and 3d physics. Or even texturing balls that need dodging.
