Xbox 360 License Migration Tool Now Available

As promised last month, Microsoft has released a new digital rights management tool allowing gamers to more easily consolidate licenses for downloaded content to a single console for online and offline play.

Performed entirely online, the license migration tool transfers licenses from old consoles on Microsoft's website, and allows users to easily redownload the licenses to a new Xbox 360.

Previously, licensing restrictions prevented redownloaded content and games from functioning on new consoles without an active Xbox Live connection. The license migration tool lifts this restriction when the licenses are transferred, allowing content to effectively function as it had on the original system on which it was purchased.

  • I don't know if the Dell tech that came out today to replace the motherboard to fix the broken firewire was a genius or a complete moron.

When he showed up (late, but he called) I chit chatted him up and we griped about Dell and I talked about the good ol days before Dell was so heavy into 3rd party techs coming on site. It used to be that if your shit was fucked, Dell would send you a system and you would swap out accessories and drives and ship them back the broken stuff and then they would just refurb it and the circle of life would continue. This was nice, easy.

Now you spend a LONG LONG LONG time trouble shooting with the phone/chat guys. Then they ship out hardware to a 3rd party tech, that tech contacts you and then goes on site with a tool bag and tries to fix it. Most of the time they don't get the right hardware (Dell ships the minimum. If it could be the motherboard, memory, etc. they will ship JUST the motherboard to try it first. PITA.) I straight out said "Yea, I just wish they would have shipped me a new one and let me swap out my drives."

First he pulls out the new motherboard. No ESD protection needed I guess. Then he starts taking apart my baby on my kitchen table with a power screw driver. he gets the first few out and then strips the fuck out the third screw. He then says "Huh, what was that" and proceeds to strip it beyond the point of recovery. "That's weird. Well, this repair just flopped. Nothing I can really do. So we have two options, either we can ship this laptop to Dell and they ship it back and that takes 5 business days OR they can ship you a new laptop and that takes 7 to 10 business days." A quick phone call and my stern mean voice and Dell is shipping me a new one.

At first I was thinking "Christ, what an idiot. How stupid do you have to be to strip a screw like that." Then I realized what he did for me. You go 3rd party Dell guy that kept calling it a WireFire port.

  • Here's a question that only partially pertains... My fiance and I both have Live subscriptions on my 360. She is all into COD4, and I decided to purchase the map pack for her. I did it through my account as a surprise for her and it totally worked and let her play it when logged into her account. Until the last Xbox update happened. Now it acts like she doesn't have the maps. If we start the game on her account, then mid-game switch to my account and redownload the maps, then switch back to her name, everything works fine again until she's done playing for the day. Next time she logs in, its back to "Download New Maps!" as if she never has had them. Any thoughts?
