Ubisoft Demonstrates Over 20 Minutes of Far Cry 2

I think it looks pretty good. While it doesn't look to innovative, it looks like it will be worth the money in gameplay time.

I suppose its only natural that people compare FC2 to Crysis (or FC1 for that matter) but whats important to remember here is that Crysis was developed by Crytek with a totally different engine than FC2 (the new Dunia engine) and also it's publisher was EA (no comment) . Ubisoft is the Developer and Publisher of FC2 so is free from most pressure which can affect other new games being made, The new Dunia engine was designed especially for FC2 and unlike the CryEngine 2 it will have a dynamic weather system, propagation of fire and fully destructible environment (not just palm trees and buildings), Also we are promised a game way better optimized than Crysis so performance will be less of a tax on our gaming systems. Oh, one last difference.....PC and consoles gamers both will be able to play FC2 when launched.....thats win...win for all gamers.

I love that it shows him actually doing everything, like opening doors, picking up weapons, etc., instead of it magically happening in front of you. Also, 50 hours of gameplay = big win. Can't wait for this.

Looks like a buy, just hope it won't be DRM'd up the wazoo

Looks awesome. Seems like a better crysis (meaning the first half of crysis where you free roam; not the second half which was too restricted :( )

the game looks great but it seems they have much work to do on that engine. Lots of tearing, hiccups and it crashed once during the presentation

You're free to roam this world as you wish - all 50 square kilometers of it. Ubi-Soft strongly emphasized that Far Cry 2 will feature truly open-ended gameplay, unlike many other games that claim such, but fail to deliver on their promise. There are no load screens, nor artificial barriers to prevent you from leaving the world - in short, Ubi-Soft wants the player to believe that they're exploring a living world. Even at this early stage, Far Cry 2 is graphically impressive, and the gameplay simply stunning. But whether all of Ubi-Soft's grand ambitions can be met has yet to be seen, but so far they appear to be on the right track.
