Star Wars Lightsaber Duels Trailer Arrives

Fresh from publisher LucasArts is a new trailer from Krome Studios' Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels (Wii), offering a look at the game's art style and Jedi battles.

Based on the upcoming Clone Wars animated feature film and TV series, Lightsaber Duels is said to focus squarely on motion-controlled lightsaber combat. LucasArts has yet to specify a release date for the game.

The motion trails are a bit exaggerated... it makes it look more cartoony than it should, IMO. I'm a great big fan of all things lightsaber, but I'm highly skeptical about this title.

I'm trying to be optimistic but it's not helping when they don't show you any video of how the wii mote plays with this. This was one reason I was excited about the wii(along with FPS games which so far haven't impressed me at all). Dueling with lightsabers or swords would be awesome but I'm betting this is just going to play out like Wii Sports when you're swinging to hit the tennis ball :(

Only real problem with this is the same problem I have with every other lightsaber themed game out there; damage model.

If they took the premise of Bushido Blade and applied it to lightsabers, then it would be a good game. But I am incapable of seeing the fun in, or suspending my disbelief with, a lightsaber that doesn't kill on the first or second hit.

What I don't get about this is half life 2 is what? 4 years old, and all we really wanted was a source engine game with the gravity gun replaced with a hand.
