Final Fantasy Versus 13 Put on Hold

18
The team behind Square Enix's action-RPG offshoot Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3) has been pulled off the project to aid in the completion of the main series installment Final Fantasy XIII (PS3), Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu reports.

Going by a translation from gaming forum NeoGAF, Versus XIII will remain on hold until Final Fantasy XIII has wrapped. Both titles have suffered several delays since their announcement, and a firm release date has not yet been specified.

The latest edition of Square Enix's flagship RPG series, FF13 was unveiled at E3 2006 alongside Versus XIII and a third game, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, for mobile phones. The titles have yet to be demonstrated in playable form at any conferences.

seriously, the battle system in 12 was so bad, if i wanted to play ffxi offline i'd just play it at 2 am when nobody else is on it.

If by bad you mean superior to every previous FF title, and indeed superior to pretty much every JRPG in existence.

I'd be totally satisfied if they kept that system in place for the most part...I can't remember having that much fun with the *gameplay* of an FF title in ages.

I liked it more than standard battle systems

one the other hand I wish there were better animations and casting spells was more easily integrated into the game, because it felt like a chore to cast anything but heals outside of a boss fight when the enemy has a specific vulnerability

the main system that sucked is the license system, but I really like the gambits (linear AI modification)

yah, I agree. However there was too much grinding and I bored of killing enemies after a while.

Yea Final Fantasy XIII is gonna be so freakin good. I hope it did what FF-VII and FF-X did. And I expect it will.
