First Gothic 3 Expansion Media Stars Dinosaur

5

Two years after Piranha Bytes' action-RPG Gothic 3 hit PCs, publisher and property owner JoWood has issued the first screenshots from the game's first expansion.

Titled Forsaken Gods, the expansion pack is due out this fall and is said to "guarantee a seamless step to Gothic 4." The publisher has yet to reveal the add-on's developer, but Spellbound Entertainment has been tasked with the fourth Gothic game, Arcania.

I never played Gothic 3, was it any good? At the time it came out I remember a friend telling me it was just a lamer version of Oblivion, but the dinosaur peaked my interest. ;)

      Lamer version of Oblivion?

Isn't that like saying gayer version of Elton John?!

Pretty much. It was a lot like Oblivion, but with a lot of bugs, shitty animation, poor voice acting, and incredibly uneven combat (in that humanoids were ridiculously easy, and wild animals were ridiculously hard)

          Oh yeah.

Even at like level 30 you could get wasted by a level 1 wolf. That whole thing where they can hit you like 40 times in row while you were stuck in the stun animation bug was retarded and they still haven't fixed it.

If it isn't fixed in the expansion and they haven't gotten rid of the insane amount of stuttering, my money is going elsewhere.

The wolrd was alot more diverse and interesting than Oblivion, as you move from city to city, you really feel like you're traveling and visiting different locations (not the case in Oblivion, where everywhere is pretty similar really). And it's all seamless, which is great.

Unfortunatly most of what people have said in the other comments is also true, but if you like exploration, I still think it's worth trying it, I know I loved it (more so than Oblivion).

If you like nonexistant combat, and a still unoptimized game, its for you!
