Minecraft for Xbox 360 dev working on 'Adventure' update
I'd say the main storyline took me 5 or 6 hours to beat. Most of the missions were pretty standard fare like destroy this, protect that, etc. The 'protect x' missions were a complete pain in the ass at times. One you beat it there are still things to collect/do if you're into that sort of thing. Plus there are 23 or so minigames to play, some of which are fun distractions and some are just flat out terrible (darts). I did like how you unlocked new moves. Basically you have a set of feats that you have to accomplish which range from jumping a total number of feat to destroying X number of tanks. Once you complete the feats required, you unlock that move, character, or artwork. Some of it is grinding, but some reward exploring the city.
Like I said, I enjoyed my time with it, but Ultimate Destruction is still the better game. I don't know if UD is backwards compatible or not, but if it is, you'd probably be best just getting that on the cheap instead.

The beginning of act four may, in fact, be one of the most amazing things to happen in a video game in years.

I'm sure most of you guys fit a similar geek demographic as I do when it comes to technology purchases.
I pretty much don't buy anything without doing research first now, it's sometimes more fun than the item itself, other times not.
TV, the best Xbox 360 revision, hard disk brands, motherboards, DVD roms, mobile phones, mp3 players, it's something I'm pretty sure most of our generation do (right?) the informed consumer.
I really enjoy it but sometimes I get burnt out on it :(
I may need a new universal remote for my TV and I just can't be assed researching after all the googling and posting I did hunting for a TV, I need a service where I can just pay some other prick to do the web research for me. :(

My story is what I like to call: Cloverfield at Sea
It has a strong scientific and military bent, it follows an expidentionary cruise to a series of deep sea buoys that are being programmed for specific functions (there are several subplots buried in this) and while they're out there, several things happen - an encounter with a foreign submarine and an encounter with a giant fucking sea creature.
Anyway, so I'm looking for movies that deal with any of these themes/issues, my list (of flicks I've seen) is currently:
- Jaws
- The Abyss
- Hunt for Red October
- Crimson Tide
Any others?

This is from EA's .eu website, so it should be pretty close to official, even though it hasn't been posted on Spore.com yet. But if you're tired of waiting around, here's a link to download it now for Mac and PC.

I've just been browsing the Codemasters F1 forums.
http://community.codemasters.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=1011
The comments there aren't exactly of the all positive and high-hopes kind... - and I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried too. This is even considering... that there has been desperate need for a new good F1 game for a bit. Sony has been sitting on the license for a while, and now something will finally happen on a multiple platform level. I really do hope Codemasters can pull it off.
I think Dirt and GRID are both great games. But... this is Formula 1 baby. And because of that, simulation needs to be the skeleton here. Having said that, there should obviously be assists - to make it more fun for the average player, but it needs to be done from a simulation --> slightly less simulation perspective - the way I see it. Starting out developing an arcade styled game, then adding simulation touches won't work.
What are your take on this? Looking forward to the game? Worried? Couldn't care less?

The noble warriors of Shacknews prepared to take on Diablo's might last week, only to find that the ladder would be resetting. Wisely, we paused to gather our strength and attack the new ladder season with renewed vigor. This is a call to join us in our quest!
If you still need inspiration, click this link: http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/k/kqyp-Tristram.mp3
What you will need
Diablo 2 + Diablo 2: LoD. If you don't own it (and why don't you?) or have lost your discs, the Diablo Battlechest can be picked up at any WalMart or Best Buy for $40. It also includes the original Diablo, which is an amazing game as well. THE BATTLECHEST IS WORTH EVERY PENNY.
Diablo 2: Lod 1.11 patch: http://fileshack.com/file.x/3256/Diablo+2+Patch+v1.11b+-+Lord+of+Destruction
(optional)
Registry file to enable hardcore mode straightaway, without grinding softcore:

New Ladder Season
Every 9-12 months, Blizzard resets the ladder, which means everyone will start off with fresh characters, a clean economy with no dupes, and an equal shot for all to be at the top of the ladder rankings. If you've been thinking about reinstalling Diablo 2, there's never been a better time. For the moment, there will be no botters, no dupes, nothing but pure hack'n'slash.
Ladder reset should be done by 1 PM CST. Interestingly, this is scheduled to be a 6 hour reset; last year the ladder was reset at about this date, but it took only 4 hours. This has led to speculation of a new patch. We will see!
Where we will play
Most shackers preferred East, so games will be there for now. Join up in Shack / shugashack (for softcore); Shackhc / shugashack (for hardcore)
I will be creating a hc character straight away; you are welcome to join me or to go softcore. I'm sure there will be people to play with either way!
Friends list
Diablo 2 has a built-in friends list, which we should add each other. After you've created an account on East, list your account name here. In-game, in the chat box type:
/f a *(account name) -- the * may be optional, but if memory serves you add the * for adding an account, and leave it off if adding a single character name to your friends list.
my account name is bipolarshack
Miscellany
Skill tree planner: http://www.d2items.com/skills.php
To show FPS and ping in-game, type /fps in chat
Various builds and strategies can be found in the relevent sub-forums at http://forums.diabloii.net/forumdisplay.php?f=9
The Ladder Reset is scheduled to be completed at 1 PM CST. I will be in game at approximately 1:20 CST on East HCL. True story!

The really big rush to the altar was not expected to take place until Tuesday, which is when most counties planned to start issuing marriage licenses to gay couples. Local officials are now required to issue licenses that have the words "Party A" and "Party B" where "bride" and "groom" used to be.
There's got to be a "and Party C, Party D, Party E for same sex mormon marraiges" line in there somewhere - I can see it - but it needs drucifer to flesh out the full comedy potential.

This week Topgear.com is posting a teaser every day. So far, they've teased an Alfa Romeo challenge and Hammond (in an Audi RS6 Avant) vs. some Alpine skiers.
Also, The Big Race is GT-R vs. Shinkansen (Japanese bullet train). I'm calling it now for the Shinkansen.
