3dfx has now officially released the new Voodoo3 drivers featuring "new image quality options to its utilities". Window9x users can grab them here, and NT users should click here. Thanks [qWp]RoqueFort.

  • #10 your lucky i dont knock your ass down and take that tnt2 and shove it up your ass.
    Compare Q3 1.07 TNT2 ultra toQ3 1.07 Voodoo3 2000
shit it should BE TNT2 vs Voodoo3 2k to make it all fair..
TnT2 32 bit looks damn good i admit.. but look at a 16bit voodoo3... point out the differnce in the TGA format w/o zooming in...
then compare the TNT2 32 bit to 16bit screen shots..
the TnT2\'s 16bit rendering SUCKS MY LEFT NUT..
but I agree that the TNT2 UTLRA is a better video card all around..
but if yer on a Budget get your self a voodoo3 2000...

  • Oh... another thing I forgot to mention...
Once the new drivers are installed, if you have the Voodoo3 Overclocking Utility in your Display Properties, you will notice that the Graphics Clock is now set way below factory default! When you click on Set Factory Default and reboot your system you get a message saying that your Voodoo3 is overclocked and that it is recommended that you restart to restore the previous settings.
Okay.. so I\'m assuming that this is probably just the Voodoo3 OC Util reporting false settings with the new drivers... but judging by the way things run with the new drivers I wouldn\'t doubt that the clock speed was actually set lower.

  • What were they thinking??
These new drivers are horrible, Quake 3 runs like crap now, even when settings are kept like they were with the old drivers. The previous drivers were much better, Q3Test ran waaay smoother.
I tried reverting back to the old drivers (with fingers crossed).. and sure enough, an error!! Dammit, I hate this kind of shit. Everything seems okay otherwise, Q3Test is now running smoother again, but upon loading Windows I get the following error:
    RUNDLL
    Error in 3dfxCmn.dll
    Missing entry: UpdateRegSettings

Well, I now think 3dfx themselves are driving their own nail into their coffin... they should have left well enough alone. I should have too apparently.

  • Sure #1 and #2.. ya right.....
any ways ne one notice a q3 problem when using the new drivers. Its kinda FUCT up..
you get low fps and you look and its just freaking fucked up
i restored old drivers and no problems..
what is the problem? no its not the sky aol boy..
is this a known issue with q3 1.07 and the new voodoo3 drivers?
if it is i aint upgrading i like the old drivers.. yet i like the new cuz they look better but pretties arnt every thing.. its smoothness damn it.. and the new ones are FUCT up..
and BTW is there a place i can get the drivers faster than 1.6kps from 3Dfx\'s shitty ftp?
and no i dont have aohell... if you want me to i\'ll post anonymous again..
