PS3 Version of Red Alert 3 Put 'On Hold'
by Chris Faylor, Jun 05, 2008 7:57am PDTElectronic Arts today affirmed that it has ceased development on the PlayStation 3 edition of the alternate-timeline RTS Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3.
No specific reason was given for the move, though the EA stressed that the EA Los Angeles-developed title will still arrive on PC and Xbox 360 this fall.
Red Alert 3 was to be the first traditional C&C entry on PlayStation 3, with the Xbox 360 having received C&C3: Tiberium Wars last year and C&C3: Kane's Wrath due out this summer. The first-person shooter spinoff Tiberium is still slated to hit PC, PS3 and 360.
"We can confirm that the development of Red Alert 3 for PS3 has been put on hold," the company told videogaming247. "EA LA is focusing resources on development for PC and Xbox 360 which will ship simultaneously this autumn."
Word of the RA3's cancellation began circulating when a recent promotional clip only mentioned the PC and 360 versions, and gained further momentum yesterday when retailer GameStop removed the PS3 edition from its release list.

I can't fathom playing C&C or Supreme Commander without a mouse and keyboard.

If they're forced to use the controller, then this is no big loss.
In any case, I'm buying this for PC, like I was always planning on doing. RTS on a console is not for me.
