Devil May Cry 4 PC Demo Released

I wonder how this plays without a controller..

for those people here who have a ps3 but no 360 it works fine in USB with a ps3 controller:

It also works in bluetooth apparently if you have bluetooth built in but the instructions are different

If you have a 360 controller for your pc (which you should) and a halfway decent graphics card. This game runs incredibly smooth in all of it's graphical glory. I think this is coming to steam so you have no excuse to avoid it. Support Capcom for doing such a wonderful job with this port and give them some encouragement to do the same for the PC version of RE5!

Being an owner of the PS3 version of DMC4 I was curious how well it translated to the PC, so I gave this a go. My impressions after playing it for a few minutes:

The good:
- Looks and runs fantastic. Frame rate was always over 60fps with everything on Super High and C8x anti-aliasing. Higher resolution, anti-aliasing, and sharper textures make it looks better than its PS3 counter-part.
- Load times are very fast. Faster than on the PS3 (which, remember, has an install).
- Menus can be controlled with a mouse and there's a proper PC config menu. Kind of sad this point has to be made but many bad ports seem to miss this important point.
- Benchmark tool. Neat.

The bad:
- I don't own a decent controller so I tried to play using the keyboard. Terrible. This game must be played using a game pad, preferably a 360 controller or something with similar layout to the PS3 controller (depends on personal preference). Buttons can be remapped, which is good, but without analog sticks and shoulder buttons you will probably find that your fingers are quite cramped. Note that the game seems to want you to use a 360 controller since the menus and instructions are given using those icons.

All things considered (within 10 minutes of playtime, hehe), this seems to be a strong port. Just be sure to have proper controller ready. I worry that it won't sell well, since everyone who wants to play has probably already done so on another system.

For anyone interested, I'm fine-tuning a GlovePIE Wiimote + Nunchuck script for this atm.

Way too much backtracking a refighting in this game.

Beat the Conqueror of the Fire Hell into shitpaste again, for the very first time, now on your PC. I'm in.

more developers need to start releasing benchmark tools, especially if they arent going to release a demo.

Great optimization. Now put the same level of thought into the possible PC- port of Resident Evil 5.
And make it work with a mouse! I have a pad but I'd like to have the choice.

Why the hell is the benchmark tool 483 MB?

I'm glad to see Capcom finally getting PC ports right. They've been releasing PC ports for a while but often they'd stink of laziness - no mouse control in RE4, Onimusha still had the triangle/square/x/circle button labels, for example.

I've been really hoping for a PC port of Dead Rising but I guess at this point it's not happening. Awww.

This is a great port. Looks even better than the 360 version, performs at a constant 60fps on my 8800GT and natively supports the 360 controller. Plus an extensive configuration menu for PC users. Capcom finally figured it out!
