Metal Gear Solid Creator Says Games, Movies to Merge into Single Medium
by Nick Breckon, May 29, 2008 12:08pm PDTIn a recent interview with Reuters, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima said that with the advent of digital media, many forms of entertainment are likely to merge into a single medium.
"When entertainment becomes digital, there can be a great collaboration between games and other kinds of entertainment like movies or even novels," said Kojima. "All these things might form together to form a coherent medium."
As the director of the Metal Gear Solid series, Kojima has always incorporated elements of Hollywood films into his games, including lengthy, filmic cutscenes.
"I can't really predict precisely that this will happen in two or three years or whatever," he added. "But the trend is there, things are happening and I believe that convergence will happen sooner or later."

Didn't this happen a long time ago? If not, what does he consider to be "digital media"?
