PC Gamer Squelches Diablo 3 Rumor

After causing a tidal wave of speculation, PC Gamer has confirmed that Blizzard's long-awaited action-RPG Diablo 3 is not revealed within its August issue.

"We're officially squelching the Diablo rumor," the magazine clarified to Voodoo Extreme. "We've got two big announcements coming in our August issue, but neither is from Blizzard."

The floodgates opened after PC Gamer teased it had a cover story "so huge we had to go to [CENSORED] to get it," with many speculating that the "[CENSORED]" could be substituted with "hell," a possible Diablo reference.

The speculation was then reinforced by fansite Blizzplanet, which noted that this year's Blizzard Worldwide Invitational takes place on June 29, the eighth anniversary of Diablo II's release. At last year's Invitational, Blizzard unveiled StarCraft II.

"We definitely appreciate that the community has a lot of interest in seeing the Diablo series continue, and we certainly share that desire," Blizzard told Shacknews yesterday. "For now, though, our focus remains on StarCraft II and Wrath of the Lich King."
