God of War Meets Guitar Hero 3 on June 5

A God of War-inspired track will be available as a free download on Thursday, June 5 for those that own the PlayStation 3 edition of Neversoft's Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

The tidbit was tucked away in a PlayStation Underground mailing from Sony (pictured left), with no additional details provided.

Though the pairing of Guitar Hero and Sony's god-slaughtering action series may seem a bit odd, developer Neversoft and Microsoft teamed for a similar promotion that had them giving away a free Halo theme for the Xbox 360 edition of GH3 last fall.

While the next iteration of the Activision-owned Guitar Hero series has been making headlines, Sony has been rather quiet on its plans for the God of War franchise. At last word, a PlayStation 3 entry was listed as "Coming Soon" within the instruction manual of the PSP God of War title, which arrived in March.
