The other night Portax texted a bunch of us to go out drinking because he had just finished law school that day. So it was Portax, sergeon, loboca and myself.

We found out later that multisync couldn't make it because he a had a date. We didn't believe it and just assumed he had a WoW raid or something. At the end of the night, after we all saw Iron Man a tad bit tipsy, I texted him "So how was your date? Did the night elf put out?". I didn't get a response that night, but the next day I found out through Portax that his date was using his iPhone when he received my text lol. She promptly didn't "feel well" and had to go.

In other words I cock blocked multisync through SMS lolz.

Anyways, in this thread we all congratulate Portax on finishing law school!

Well I just hooked my Apple TV's optical audio out, to a TosLINK to Coaxial converter ($10.00) then hooked that into the *video* port of a 5.8GHz a/v wireless transmitter... on the flip side, ran a video cable from the video out, to the coaxial digital in on my amp.

Apple TV can now go anywhere in the house, and send music back to the main amp... or anywhere I put a receiving unit.

Whole house audio, and digital, yay!

San Francisco Bay Area Shooting Range Shackmeet

Fellow SFBA Shackers, I have tentatively made plans for a Shackmeet this July to go shoot stuff. This post is mainly to gauge interest and also pick a good date we can all agree on.

I haven't set a date yet but I'm thinking either the 5th of July (Saturday) or the week following on the 12th of July. The range opens at 9 AM and we'll shoot until everyone gets sick of it or we run out of ammo. I'm thinking we won't stay beyond 2 PM. There's also a Picnic area if we want to do a BBQ or bring Pizzas from in town.

I will be bringing my weapons obviously but if you have weapons and ammo you're more than welcome to! There are some restrictions on what calibers are allowed at the range so check the link below for the range's webpage. If you don't have a weapon you are welcome to shoot my weapons and I'm sure other shackers aren't scrooges with theirs if they bring them.

If you are bringing your own weapons list them here as well and their calibers.

The Range will be located at the Los Altos Gun & Rod Range. Range Fee is $14 per person and they sell ammunition at the range as well. I believe they take credit card there as well but I'll have to confirm later.

Grill men

So I opened up my Grill the first time this season to do some cleaning, and I noticed that my grates are starting to rust. WTF? Is that "normal?" I'd think something that was designed to stay outside through all 4 seasons wouldn't rust after 2 years.

Is there anything I can do, or do I just need to go get some replacement grates now?

Hey guys i'm getting excited for monday. What is monday you ask ? monday is may 12. Wiiware is gonna be released, and a torrent of cheap, interesting games is gonna flow. Recently I actually didnt buy new games because i wanted to put my cash on a few of these. (yeah i'm broke). I stacked up 4000 wii points to download games on monday. Can't wait.

I know this is kind of old news for ppl with PS3 and X360 because of PSN and XBLA, but this is huge to me !

I'm talking about stuff like Gravitronix, World of Goo, Tetris, Dr.Mario, Bomberman (online?), Toki Tori, et, for 10-15$ a pop. I'm all for that. I think i'm getting World of Goo first, and then Tetris (if its coming may 12, i dont recall...

Evening Repost Edition

I am pleased to present to you my latest offering: Shack New Comments Marker

If you're like me, you refresh the Shack often. Very often. And if you're even more like me, it can be a little annoying not knowing exactly which comments are new since you last refresh. The whiter comments feature helps a little but each thread can have a different number of new replies and without skimming every bright post you can't tell which are actually new. I also find it difficult to tell when I have scrolled down to the point at which there are no new comments at all since my last refresh.

So as you might imagine, this script fixes that. Every time you refresh the chatty, every new post made since your last refresh will be indicated by a handy blue marker:

As you can see, it fits in naturally to the Shack design.

In addition, if an entire thread is new, the root post will be indicated by having a blue speech icon instead of the normal gray:

And finally, the area at the top of the page that says how many threads there are will also say how many new posts there are:

Is it even remotely possible to get the resources of an xbox 360 game from the disc? I want to look at images and sounds, but I'm guessing this is pretty heavily encrypted.

It goes as far as you need a specific dvd drive with the right firmware in order to even make an image of the disc? I'm not looking to pirate anything, I just am feeling curious.
