New Far Cry 2 Video Released

Far Cry Instincts Predator is still one of my most frequently played games, thanks to the multiplayer and map editor. I can still put a map online and have up to 10 people join in. The evolutions powerup is one of the most fun things in the game... but I guess it will be gone in Far Cry 2, since they seem to be getting away from the "manimal" aspect of the game. That and the tree traps are awesome. I hope both of these elements survive in some form for FC2 multiplayer. I did read a while back, that they are continuing to provide a map editor, which is great news. Best part of the game by far.

That bolt-action rifle in the screenshot makes me sad. Doesn't the lever go on the right if the trigger hand is on the right? This seems like they forgot that Counter-Strike was originally left-handed only, and then they reversed all the models for the right-handed models.

What would make this intriguing to me is the addition of natural elements to the game. Having to keep in mind the threat of lions, crocs, snakes, hippos, and the rest. If the game world is that large, that would be pretty helpful.

This whole video is ridiculous. They make it sound like going to Africa would mean it's a better game. There's no reason to go there! There is an endless supply of Africa pictures...ALL OVER THE INTERNET! And if it's anything like the first one which I've heard <a href="http://www.expotv.com/videos/reviews/22/194/Far-Cry/63254">here</a> is utter crap, then expect to be disappointed.

This looks ridiculously awesome if you ask me. It looks visually on par with Crysis and has almost totally freeform sandbox gameplay? It remains to be seen how well they'll pull it off of course, but if they can deliver on it - holy crap yes. It's like a big ass, African STALKER minus the inventory stuff, and probably no eastern bloc headbob.

I dunno. Hours and hours of creeping around constantly cloaking and uncloaking except now in the hot, dry plains of Africa doesn't sound like *too* much fun. The AI was a little too psychic: I couldn't be in a large, thick stand of trees in Crysis while lying prone and decloak without the f-ing heli off in the distance seeing and shooting me with unerring accuracy. Does my suit have suspiciously bright, blinking lights on it or what? Going in with the frontal assault wasn't much fun for me as the bad guys tended to be excellent shots even with a shotgun...especially with a shotgun. Don't even get me started on the damn boats....
