GTA 4 Sets One-day Sales Record in UK

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV broke a record by moving 609,000 copies during its first day of release in the UK, according to MCV.

The previous one-day UK record had been held by Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which saw 501,000 copies sold in a 24-hour period.

Sales of Grand Theft Auto IV were closely split between platforms in the territory, with 335,000 Xbox 360 copies sold as compared to 274,000 for the PlayStation 3.

The game has also become the fastest selling Xbox 360 title in the UK, beating Halo 3's first-day sales of 266,000.

I wonder what the HW numbers in the UK are like. Is the installed base of 360's and PS3's similar to the ratio of GTA IV copies sold that first day?

So many places were sold out within hours that I think they would have sold more had they been able to make more. Not everywhere was sold out but by about midday it became difficult to track down a copy if you didn't have on ordered.
