This Is Vegas Walkthrough Glamorizes Wet T-Shirts, Strong Design Philosophy

Publisher Midway has released an video walkthrough from the open-world title This Is Vegas, showcasing the title's party component and its multiple activities.

Included in the eight minutes of footage are bartending, puking, pissing, mingling, dancing, a fight with a douche bag boyfriend, and a wet t-shirt contest. Not included is this golden line from the playable demo at Midway's Gamers Day: "Fuck you kid. I eat meat and shit bullets."

Developed by The Suffering alumni Surreal Software, This Is Vegas is scheduled to release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall.

Sadly this is looking more and more like Surreal's swan song in the game development business, you can almost hear the marketing folks around the table when this was pitched..."Right, we take the cool parts of GTA, and mix in more women and gambling, lots of stereotypes and sexism, that's what the kids want, it's obvious; we're onto a winner here. Lets make sure everythign is super shiny too, that's art direction at it's best!"

If they're trying to capture the GTA crowd, they're going to fail miserably - is originality dead?

This game looks horrendous. What a waste of time and energy.

Midway should take the money they were going to spend on this game and put it all on black. They would have a better chance at recouping their investment that way.

Seriously, I have never heard Las Vegas used some many times to describe widely varying things.

When referring to giving people the right bar order: "If you don't then you get a suitably Vegas Style reaction."

Anyone familiar with me knows I can appreciate gratuity in my games. I say with straight face that I played Playboy - The Mansion and Leisure Suit Larry: Magna cum Laude and enjoyed them greatly for what they are. I play hentai games. I even thought about (but never actually followed through) playing The Guy Game.

But what is this shit? It's completely pointless. There's no payoff here. Who are they targeting? They're insulting gamers with the whole "fantasy of being a cool guy at a club" thing, and they're insulting people who go to clubs with the whole "everybody is a giant douchbag" thing.

This is the most accurate Douche Bag simulator ever. It is certainly well made, but what audience do they expect to buy this? Wouldn't club people... rather go to a club? I am assuming they aren't courting the average shacker as the ideal audience here, and I would imagine most frat/jock types are either playing Madden or at an actual club.
