Gothic 3 Expansion Due Late This Year
by Chris Faylor, Apr 14, 2008 9:46am PDTAn expansion pack for Piranha Bytes' 2006 action-RPG Gothic 3 (PC) is due out later this year, publisher and property owner JoWood has announced.
Titled Gothic 3 - Forsaken Gods, the add-on is said to answer "many open questions," and is currently slated for a Q4 2008 release. "On your journey you will meet old friends--but be careful, some old alliances may not have lasted the test of time," the company teased.
"Feedback from fans is extremely important to the developer of Gothic 3 - Forsaken Gods," JoWood noted. "The game designer and developer are studying the Gothic message boards each day and will incorporate as many of the fan-wishes as possible while working on the extension.
It is not known if series developer Piranha Bytes will be handling the expansion. However, it seems unlikely as Spellbound Entertainment has been tasked with Gothic 4 and the add-on is said to "guarantee a seamless step to Gothic 4."

Honestly Gothic 4 may be okay, but Gothic 3 is too bloated to fix at this point and an expansion pack is just not cool.
I say this after recently beating G3 recently, ugh.

Gothic 3 is by far THE best RPG I have ever played.. well, not better than Baldurs Gate, but certainly better than Oblivion or anything similar.
If anyone intends to give this game a try, don't forget to update the game with latest patch (shit-load of fixes).

I hate to say it, but it's a good thing. Gothic 3 just didn't have the same magic as 1 and 2. Put Piranha on something new.
It'll be interesting to see what happens in Gothic 4.

1. PB is with publisher Deep SIlver now, not with JoWooD.
2. Their small dev team is busy working on RPB (working title), which is an Gothic-like RPG.
3. ???
4. Profit.
