Now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace is a demo for Universe at War: Earth Assault, the strategy game from Petroglyph Games which was released for Xbox 360 last month. The 547mb demo includes two single-player skirmish maps and a one-on-one multiplayer map, as well as a tutorial.

Wow, the controls aren't half bad. Because this is such a simplistic RTS, it means you can just group everything together in one big force, whilst still maintaining formation and having access to all their special abilities.

Big problems from the demo:

Looks rubbish (some very poor shadows),
slows down a great deal when you have 10+ vs 10+ unit battles.
