Lair Update Offers Analog Control Support

11
A forthcoming update for Factor 5's Lair (PS3) will add analog control support to the dragon-riding action title, IGN reports.

Details released by Sony Japan reveal that the update will allow players to shed Lair's Sixaxis-only control scheme in favor of a more familiar analog setup. The update will be available in Japan on April 17, with a worldwide release likely following soon thereafter.

Released in August of last year, Lair was subject to widespread criticism due to its underwhelming Sixaxis controls, which restricted players to an imprecise tilt-controlled system of movement and aiming.

Hey motion sensing is a next generation technology for Sony and was definitely not tacked on at the last second to compete with another company!

Also the game was perfectly fine with the six-axis, didn't you get the instructional packet on how to play? Geez man!

Lol, you are one of the only people I have heard that liked the controls. I haven't played it but look at the reviews and opinions.

Hell it's broken, I thought I made it as over-the-top obvious as I could.

To be fair, this "design" decision was made because of Sony bullshit politics, not a dev decision.

Well then Factor 5's president has been extremely thorough at perpetuating this Sony bullshit, because in every interview he claims that it's the only one to blame for Lair's failure is the gamers; for having an irrational dislike of motion controls in general.

Why you say that? Sony and the dev have said before that it was Factor 5's choice to go with that control scheme.

A friend of mine was working for Sony cinematics, and they were working with factor 5 on this game. The situation was so fucked up and disorganized, I think almost nothing about the dev process was anyone's decision. More like shit exploded and fell where it lay, and some people tried hard to shovel it roughly into place before release.

It's too late for this. The games already been panned and badmouth by gamers. If this change was done last year, game sales would have been helped.

WOW. I thought this was added like the second week of release because it was necessary.

I tried the game once at a convention and it was so broken I wouldn't bothered until analog controls were stuck in. I am sure I heard they added it nearly after release, but I guess they just planned to add it.... talk about taking their time.
