Turbine today released a few screenshots for the upcoming Book 13 content update to The Lord of the Rings Online.

The images present a glimpse of Forochel, a frozen region to the north of Eriador. Says Turbine: "Forochel lets players see the ocean for the first time and introduces several new temperature based landscape effects."

LOTRO is definitely a nice looking game. They have a really great art design team that is VERY dedicated to getting everything right from the books.

For example if you read the description of the Prancing Pony Inn and then look at it in the game it's exactly the way it should look.

Goddammit I hate pay to play system. Every MMO should be like Guild Wars, pay once and not monthly.

After about a year, LotRO is really starting to look really great, both from a level of detail and stylistic perspective. Maybe its because I'm finally getting to some higher levels (currently 30), but there definitely seems like there's more to do now than when it was released. Up until North Downs, I rarely had over 15 active quests at any one time, now I'm trying to juggle quests to keep under the 40 cap.

Wow those screenshot look nice. I remember the game didn't look near that good with everything maxed a month after release. Did they rework it or upgrade it for expansion?
