BBC iPlayer Brings Streaming TV to the Wii
by Nick Breckon, Apr 09, 2008 8:09am PDTThe BBC today announced that its iPlayer internet television service is now available to Nintendo Wii owners living in the United Kingdom.
The iPlayer program can be accessed through the Wii Internet Channel, allowing UK users to watch free episodes of shows such as Top Gear, the EastEnders, and Doctor Who. The company hopes that a future version may be released as a standalone application.
The service begins a beta testing period today, with the iPlayer website stating: "..over the coming weeks we'll tweak the video encoding rates and playback window size to get the best possible video quality."
