by Nick Breckon, Apr 04, 2008 5:17pm PDTDeveloper Relic has released the first screenshots of its upcoming RTS sequel Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, announced earlier this week by publisher THQ.
Few official details have been provided on the project, though THQ did note that all owners of the Dawn of War expansion pack Soulstorm will eventually receive a Dawn of War II beta key.

I played (and panted) the original Warhammer 40k alot when I was younger.
What I have heard this is an RTS as in Realtime? I want a game where you play like the original tabletop game, turnbased.

Then again, my slightly below-average PC would probably run with these settings at less than 10 fps.

I don't know how to react. That screenshot of the Assault troops jumping in is the coolest thing I've seen in my LIFE!
The vertical scale is just mind boggling. Hopefully the game actually plays from that view point. The super tall buildings,, the corridors, the natural 'arena' location.
I see that drop pod there. How cool would it be for drop pods to become permanent structures and act as llimited cover for the squads.
I can't even imagine what the gameplay would be like (except for remembering Ground Control) from that viewpoint, but the screenshot is pure bliss!!

The terrain and buildings look really impressive.
