Publisher LucasArts has announced that its third-person action title Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will head to North American retailers on September 16, with an Australian release on September 17 and an European release on September 19.

Set in the time between the Episode III and Episode IV films, The Force Unleashed follows the exploits of Darth Vader's secret Jedi-hunting apprentice.

The game will be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP. The physics-intensive PS3 and X360 versions were developed internally at LucasArts. Krome Studios is handling the PS2, Wii and PSP iterations, with n-Space on the DS release.

Have any of the shack editors played this? They have some great technology that makes great videos...but how is the game?

I've seen it played, but I haven't gotten a chance to play it myself. I got the impression that you're a lightning-quick lightsaber-wielding Jedi badass, which interests me.

I once dated a lightning-quick lightsaber-wielding Jedi badass. Somewhat of a hag, but incredible cook.

Yeah, really, that's something that's rarely done with the Star Wars franchise. I've always wanted to feel like a complete force-wielding badass. KOTOR gave me that impression towards the end of the game, but this looks absolutely fantastic.

I wish GTA IV had DMM. It has euphoira and it'll be awesome but the DMM in this game looks amazing.
