Sonic Unleashed Trailer Released

Accompanying the official announcement of Sonic Unleashed, Sega released a trailer that showcases the game's mix of 2D run-and-jump gameplay. Sadly, the footage does not offer a glimpse of Sonic's periodic werewolf-like transformation.

Slated to release on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, Unleashed is being developed by Sonic Team and is due out later this year.

I dont understand sonic... what's the point of blazing through a bunch of levels..there's no real platforming. ..dont even have time to see the pretty graphics.. it's like they spend so much time adding detail to a part of the level which gets blazed through...

this looks solidly awesome. i love how the environments look deeply shadowed/radiosity/painted miniature look to them, and its good to see them going back to the 2d roots, and mixing in 3rd person when it works best.

that "mix of 2D run and jump gameplay" looks like it's mostly on rails and i'm not referring to the actual rails you slide on. :/

i kinda like the 2d-3dishness where you can see what;s ahead of you. i really didn't like the standard 2d sonic game because you had to go so fast but you never knew what you were going to run into lose all your rings ina blink of the eye

I think he's running late for something.

Seeing Sonic using straight up speed to mess enemies up is seems genius to me. It was a buzzkill when I was running to the right full-tilt just to get stopped by a tiny robot ladybug I could pop by jumping on it.
