Project Origin Trailer Is Spooky, Bloody
by Aaron Linde, Mar 18, 2008 3:02am PDTA trailer for Project Origin (PC, PS3, X360) has been released, showing the first glimpse of Monolith Productions' upcoming horror shooter
The game is a direct sequel to F.E.A.R (PC, PS3, X360), but was retitled in the wake of Monolith's departure from publisher Vivendi. In the aftermath of the dispute, Monolith retained rights to the characters, setting and story, while Vivendi obtained the rights to the F.E.A.R. name.
Project Origin is tentatively scheduled for release in the fall of this year.

There was a day I was like that, never tearful but simply unable to move in these games.. Doom 3, I found exhilerating, but titles like System Shock 2, or even Unreal back in ye olden days, could paralyse me.
As a young teenager I simply couldn't accept that when I turned around, there could be something there, so close, so close it's face would fill the screen. The most innocent of things would terrify me if I let myself think about them and become paranoid, and often the things that scared me most would be simple graphical glitches that flashes a blur into my face, making me jump so hard I nearly fell off the chair.
But System Shock 2.. Yes, that did frighten me on a deeper level.
It was the day, the first day I played it, when I watched a Hybrid, and realised; That creature is not on a scripted path. It's loosely scouting a location, but it's actually choosing to randomly explore rooms every few passes of the patrol, to deviate.
After 20 minutes of hiding behind a medical table watching the hybrid, it suddenly, without hint nor preview, turned left and staggered toward me, just 'deciding' to check my corridor. It spotted me and in screaming panic I just managed to take it down with a wrench to the face.
I remained terrified.
These days.. I am numb. It's truly upsetting, I am no longer scared by games. A far older friend, numbed during childhood by overexposure to late night horror films, now twitches and gibbers at the horrors of Silent Hill 2 where I'm smiling blankly and quite calmly beating mannequins to death.
If anyone has any tips on how to fear games again, do share ._.
Even Bioshock only scared me two or three times. Excited, yes, but scared never. I lost my ability to feel fear during a few violent events during my mid teens and it's just turned my games into.. toys, rather than experiences =\
