Publisher Capcom has released several new screenshots of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition, showing off the new multiplayer maps and modes of the forthcoming re-release. Slated to arrive May 27 on PC and Xbox 360 and priced at $29.99, Colonies Edition packs the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition along with a number of additions to the game's multiplayer component, including new weapons, maps and modes.

Colonies includes three new single-player modes as well--score attack, boss rush, and off-limit--with off-limit featuring increased movement speed, more powerful weapons, and unlimited ammo.

I really wanted to like this game, but the demo didn't quite do it for me--I was turned off by the health mechanic where you freeze to death. Then I tried the PC demo, but couldn't even get it to install. I figured the reason was it was DX10 only or something and deleted it. The reviews were somewhat mixed, but apparently the game sold very well. How do people around here like it?

i rented it and never got into it... the controls really put me off. i want to like it because, hey, shooting monsters should always be fun and the mechs seemed neat, but there's just too many other good games out to be bothered.

Yeah, as I recall there was something about the controls I didn't like (or the way your character moved), but I don't remember what exactly.
