Mafia 2 Screens Are Pretty, Intimidating

Another five screenshots of 2K Czech's open-world mobster simulator sequel Mafia 2 have appeared, showcasing the game's use of weapons and shiny cars.

Known as Illusion Softworks prior to its acquisition by 2K Games, the studio is planning to release Mafia 2 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, though no release estimate has been announced.

The orignial Mafia was fantastic. Too bad so many people wrote it off as a bad GTA clone - it was so much more than that. A great story, great acting and solid cut-scenes made you care about the characters, and the levels were fantastically atmospheric (I loved the derilict prison). The ending was a cracker too.

I really hope Mafia 2 doesn't do a Deus Ex 2.

Mafia was a really engaging/fun game (except the car race, the car race can die in a fire). Is this based in the 50's? That'd be wicked. Goodfellas era would be fun too.

There was a small preview of Mafia 2 in the latest issue of EGM (featuring these same screenshots) that pretty much dismissed the game as just another GTA clone. DIAF EGM!!!!!!

Original Mafia was awesome. Deep storytelling and characters. Kept me coming back for more and more until I finished it and starter again with higher difficulty. I hope they are keeping the same game mechanics in Mafia 2.
