InstantAction.com Beta Open to the Public

Indie developer GarageGames has opened the floodgates on its web-gaming application InstantAction.com.

While an official announcement is not due for another day or so, a GarageGames representative confirmed to Shacknews that anyone who signs up for the beta via the service's official site will be able to instantly access the beta.

The beta currently contains four titles from multiple studios--Marble Blast Online, ScrewJumper, Think Tanks, and Cyclomite--with a prototype version of TRIBES spiritual sequel Fallen Empire: Legions slated to arrive by the month's end.

I was hoping that web-based would imply that it runs on non-Windows operating systems like Java and Flash-based web games, but that doesn't seem to be the case with their engine at the moment. It currently requires Windows XP or Vista. Is that going to change?

i've been signed up for a while now and honestly the only game i've touched is the marbleb game. basically i see IA's offerings as 1. blahblah 2. yabbayabba 3. blingblam 4. mewmew 5. T R I B E S

Honestly I could do without the web based slant....nobody cares about the flash minigames. They want Tribes. What are the chances of it releasing as a Stand Alone title on Steam or something?

I feel like this website would be rocking if they had a couple non fps games of my choosing:

-A SimCity like territory management game
-A simple Rogue-like dungeon crawler

These would be awesome types of games to get instant action from, and very different from tribes so caters to more markets.

The problem with the current games is that they are "games" but they aren't really addicting.

Well this certainly explains the huge influx of people I saw on there today. The new design is a lot slicker than previous versions, and having info about what stage of the loading process you're in now is nice as well. I might actually play a bit more, as there was a wealth of games to play in today, unlike the usual few at any given time.
