Morning Discussion

So how is Monday treating you? Hope everyone had a good weekend. Nick brings you some Sunday Schooling, but are you up for the challenge? And don't forget tonight we wrap up the latest Shacknews screenshot contest, if nothing else, which of the submissions tweak your fancy? And in community news, Rydogg1 recaps the Shacknews vs. SplashDamage Enemy Territory: Quake Wars match from this weekend.

In a world of confusion, ShackBlog delineates between news and blogging:

I don't even listen to new music all that much anymore! I am really behind the times, and the last thing I really liked came out almost a year ago. I have nothing to contribute. But I still like to be snarky about NIN!

Have you listened to this instrumental stuff? Even non nin fans would like some of it.

Reznor is just terrible. I will listen to it because I will listen to anything, but I doubt he has gotten any better.

Just ordered 2 of these...one as a gift for someone and one for myself...with no issues whatsoever.
Confirmation came in a few seconds and download link as well, but I don't have the bandwidth available to d/l it myself so I am having a friend burn it in the states and send it to me on a DVD.
I might have to see how big the $5 version is so I can get the damn thing ASAP and listen to it...it's killing me not being able to hear it.

yeah, mine is bored and I've exceeded download limits. However, "if you've had any problems with downloads from the Ghosts site, don't worry - you'll be able to use your download link again when the site is more stable." nin.com

Side thread: Does anyone think that maybe NIN, or maybe Radiohead, could wind up being the Steam of music distribution? Back when Steam came out it was painful for a while but then they worked it out and now they're pretty much the gold standard for digital distribution. NIN and Radiohead are artists who used to have mainstream popularity and now they're doing their own digital distribution. Trent Reznor is now producing other acts as well (Saul Williams). Maybe after these guys figure out what the kinks are in this digital distribution of music thing is (like having >160kbps, or more servers, or letting certain sites help with the dist. of the sample tracks) that they might be the go-to guys for independent digital distribution?
