Titan Quest Developer Shuts Down
by Maarten Goldstein, Feb 28, 2008 6:41am PSTA post on the Iron Lore Entertainment website announces that the Titan Quest developer is shutting down, having been unable to secure financing for its next project.
"We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has helped us in the last seven years--our team who moved mountains to create such great games, our publisher THQ who has been a great partner through three product development cycles, and most of all our customers and fans," reads the statement.
"We owe all of the success we've had to you, and our greatest satisfaction has come from creating games that have given enjoyment to the community."
Publishers or developers interested in hiring Iron Lore talent are asked to contact pchieffo@ironlore.com; the same email address can also be used for inquiries on technology licensing.
In addition to Titan Quest and the Immortal Throne expansion pack, Iron Lore recently developed the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War expansion pack Soulstorm.

With the way Titan Quest seems to have sold, it wouldnt seem like they were hurting for money. Hell, it even made it on to Steam... which is where I bought it.
Piracy maybe? Who knows...

Someone should scoop them up asap they have mad talent. MS should buy them and use em for PC and 360 and let the crew create their games.
I take it this means the 3DS Max plugin for importing 3D models for TQ will not be coming out now since they are KO'd?
Crap I would almost be interested in how much the plugin would coast or even their game engine for TQ it is awesome.
Crazy times...

I almost feel that I should've bought the game -- even if I never installed or played it -- just to show support to a developer like Iron Lore who seemed to genuinely care about my favorite gaming platform.

Not only is this sad, but it's also rather scary. Titan Quest didn't flop, it just did moderately well. This just goes to show you that in this day and age of expensive development cycles, even an above-average title can kill a developer if it doesn't do well in sales.

The game they were working on according to SG was PC only from the sounds of it, they really should have pushed it on the consoles too from the outset supposedly it was a "Titan Quest meets God of War meets Oblivion" mash up.
Titan Quest is fun!

As far as Diablo clones go, Titan Quest was probably the best one.
At least we have Sacred 2 to look forward to, hopefully it doesn't suck.

I loved and still play Titan Quest + Immortal Throne.
I was hoping for another expansion pack but oh well.
Good luck to the Iron Lore staff.
Lord help us when Blizzard gets around to releasing Diablo 3. It's gonna make TQ look like shit on rye.

I worked with one of the artist there I hope he got another job :(
I actually just started getting into Titan Quest coop with my brother, and we are having a blast. Was looking forward to seeing a new expansion sometime in the future, guess I better enjoy it while it lasts. :(
