At least all the hype about rails seems to have died down to a dull roar. One nice thing that came out of it is that MVC frameworks for web apps are way more popular now. Even Microsoft is on board.

I'm doing rails development on OS X atm :(

Though imo OS X is fantastic - i do most of my dev work on my macbook, and the only reason to be in windows is if i'm doing symbian c++/nokia dev related crap, and even then its just utterly annoying to work under versus OS X.

Having said that windows still has its place (e.g. my main machine that im typing on right now), but development work has always seemed easier on OS X (especially with stuff like virtuedesktop). Though that kind of elitist attitude is just nonsense - if you have a development environment setup under windows that allows you to be productive then all power to you. Ditto if you happen to be a linux guru and use some obscure distro i've never heard of, if that works for you then good for you. I think OS X is a good halfway house between the two though.

^^^ What he said. And a good deal of Rails devs use Linux or obscure things like FireFlyBSD (Why the lucky stiff uses this). Really I think it's sad that just because Rails development has a higher concentration of Apple d-bags that now Rails + OSX = Douchebag.

Apparently Atwood hadn't noticed that Adobe + Apple has been the champion platform douchebaggin for YEARS. (Actually had a designer say that someone designing on Windows is less likely to be a good designer - and with design tools the tools are absolutely no different unlike development tools)

Atwood just wanted to try and be DHH (D is for douchebag!) in that post and rightfully came off as a hypocritical fool.

And I rather like Atwood. =(
