Disgaea 3 Heading to North America in August

Nippon Ichi announced today that it intends to publish its popular alternative strategy RPG Disgaea 3 (PS3) in North America, tentatively scheduled for an August release.

The newest incarnation of the series features new gameplay updates including the Geo Block, which grants players the ability to alter battlefield terrain to reach previously inaccessible areas. Similar to previous Disgaea titles, the game is aimed at hardcore strategy RPG fans, featuring ridiculous level caps and sprawling, multi-level dungeons.

Disgaea 3 marks the series' first appearance on a next-generation console, and will be localized by the company's North American branch, NIS America.

Yeah, this is the first game for PS3 that's made me even consider buying.

Otoh, I realize it's probably going to barely change the gameplay and I could just save $560+tax and play D2 more.

Yeah, I love their games, but it would be nice if they innovated more with the mechanics. It's like they found a formula that people like, and now they're afraid to change anything.
