C&C: Red Alert 3 Announced for PC, Consoles
by Chris Faylor, Feb 14, 2008 7:14am PSTFollowing the title's unveiling earlier this week, publisher Electronic Arts has officially announced Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Developed by EA Los Angeles, the same studio that handled Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (PC, X360), Red Alert 3 will add co-op campaign play, new units, and a new faction to the alternate history strategy series. According to executive producer Chris Corry, naval combat has been brought "into the heart of the game design."
No release estimate was provided, though PC players will be able to gain beta access by purchasing the Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath expansion or the Command & Conquer 3 Limited Collection later this year. Specifics on the beta program are slated to arrive this summer.
"The Red Alert games are known for challenging hardcore strategy gamers with depth, variety, and innovative gameplay," said EA LA general manager Mike Verdu. "But they also belong to that rare breed of games that can draw in more casual players with their over-the-top stories, instantly accessible mechanics, and straight-to-the-fun design."
A set of screenshots, a piece of concept art, and a video interview accompanied the announcement.

Never got into Starcraft and have never played the RA series either. I got into RTS's at the time of Age of Empires I and II which I absolutely love. Age 3 sucked, was pretty tho. Then I got into C&C Generals and the expansion pack, both tons of fun. Last year I got into C&C3 and Company of Heroes.
This RA3 thing looks interesting, especially naval combat.

There was just something right about the first one that the second one never had, it felt too much like a parody rather than a proper game.

i can already hear "my truck is loaded" or... " It is day of judgement"... ah memories. only generals:ZH came close to the total time i played RA2
NOTE TO EA: gotta increase the speed of the game... TibWars was an improvment over Generals, but nothing compared to RA2 at full, mind numbing speed. it was delicious.
