Weekly Rock Band DLC: Clash, Police, Ramones
by Aaron Linde, Feb 11, 2008 10:08am PSTThis week's trio of new downloadable songs for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of Harmonix's Rock Band have been unveiled on the developer's message boards.
This week's downloadable songs are "Complete Control" by the Clash, "Truth Hits Everybody" by the Police and the Ramones' "Teenage Lobotomy". All three songs are master recordings.
The content will be made available through Xbox Live Marketplace on Tuesday, February 12 for 160 Microsoft Points ($2) a piece, or 440 points ($5.50) for a bundle. As always, the new content will hit the PlayStation 3 as part of the PlayStation Store weekly update on Thursday, February 14 at $1.99 per song or $5.49 for the pack.
While the content of the remaining two updates left in February are not yet known, Harmonix has issued a tentative list of songs scheduled for March, including Metallica's "Fuel", Nine Inch Nails' "March of the Pigs" and "The Perfect Drug" along with more tracks from Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Iron Maiden, and many others.

I found when playing RB in a social environment, my friends/family have gravitated towards the songs they know - and being all different ages/genders - they still pick more common/commercial songs with some fringe alternative ones -but nothing like the relatively obscure singles RB is putting out....those are skipped instantly and repeatedly if I download them.
It seems like a large percentage of songs on the CD and DL are either rock/metal/punk songs from 10-15-20 years ago, or very alternative songs from recently. I'd like to see a lot more recent, modern rock (where's any Audioslave? or Priestess, Buckcherry, Linkin Park, Foo FIghters, Nickelback), or some good Girls rockin out (Pink, Ashley Simpson, Evanescence), or any other good rock from the past 5-8 years....instead of the same obscure stuff?

Anyway, I think Harmonix is doing a great job making up for these kinds of issues by deluging us with what content they can. Keep em coming! I am salivating over those NIN tracks!

I really want some Queen and some heavier stuff on there, which Rock Band is sorely lacking.

I haven't been keeping up. Have they done "I Wanna Be Sedated" and "Rock and Roll High School" from the Ramones yet?
