Quake Wars Developer Expanding

8
London-based developer Splash Damage announced that it plans to double its studio and fill positions in art, design, and programming.

The studio's careers page on the studio's website has been updated with new listings for some of the available positions, with the company also planning to recruit at the Game Developers Conference later this month.

The expansion comes as part of preparations for Splash Damage's next project, an unannounced multi-platform title. The developer most recently completed work on the PC version of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, released in the fall of 2007, and has since provided continual patch updates and support of the title.

I have a question about articles like this. Lots of studios have job postings on their sites and many are to add new staff. Why are some newsworthy and others aren't?

Based on the Shack's track record, they tend to plug openings for independent studios with AAA-releases under their belts, studios that have released games that caught ShackHype(TM) or studios that have a BIG NAME (Romero, Spector, etc.) associated with them.

Romero is still considered a big name?

i don't know if you guys consider him "big name" but the way I look at it is like this:
if you say thunder, i'll say flash.
and if you say romero, somebody will say daikatana
and hilarity will ensue because beating the dead horse of a joke is always funny </sarcasm>
