EA Predicts PS3 to Outsell 360 In 2008

I'm not too surprised by the claim, branding, advertising and localization has been in Sony's favour in Europe.

The Sony brand name never took the same nose dive that it did in the USA.

Sony and Nintendo (especially Nintendo) advertisements are much more common than Xbox ones.

Microsoft is a USA centric company it deploys it's products in North America first with perhaps the full functionality but over seas you may not get the same experience for example Windows Media Centre and the Xbox Live video marketplace (zune another example).

That's not to say MS ignores Europe the Xbox Live video marketplace was recently loaded with content and Microsoft has set up regional development centres in the UK/IE for Media Centre and game development to redress the balance (& an indicator that its knows this is a problem).

EA is probably right about the PS3 part, though.
I just got back from a 2 month vacation in Prague, the Netherlands, and the riviera and at every upscale I attended , PS3's on big flat screens were rocking. They had this guitar game with an actual guitar controller that you could hit this pick button and play just like real musicians. I actually thought about asking my parents to get me one for the lake boat this spring break.

I'd call BS on this except... I've already got a 360 and a Wii and was thinking it might be time to get onbaord the Blu-Ray circle-jerk.

If the rumor I saw over at Wired this morning (http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/02/rumor-sony-prep.html) is true, I'll be all over it this fall.

I Think ill actually wait to buy one when I see some good games coming out that aren't coming out for 360 as well. Seriously who has fun online with a ps3

Well Europe is Playstation/PC territory, but that's still a pretty freaking bold statement. I think the price needs to drop further before that happens. Then again, this is EA and they are far from all knowing.

I'm so going to get a PS3 when Gran Turismo 5 comes out.

This from the company with record sales and they still can't turn a profit this quarter. Durrrr.

Probably mostly due to most gamers already have an XBox 360 lol.

The PS3 is at 10.5m now, by this time next year the PS3 will be caught up to the 360 or a couple million away.

I believe it, (and I expect there are people that will disagree) because they have to. Simple as that, Sony has got to outsell MS this year if there's ever going to be any hope of the PS3 being a success. There really is no excuse for them not to, considering how cold (relatively) the rest of the world outside of NA is towards the 360.
