Stardock announced today that Ironclad Games' Sins of a Solar Empire (PC) has gone gold and will be released on February 4.

Priced at $39.95, the 4X and RTS mash-up will be available in retail stores and via Stardock's digital download service next week. A collector's edition which includes a CD soundtrack, poster, and other bonuses will also be released for ten dollars over the standard version.

  • I've been playing this in the beta, it's seriously good gaming. Sounds like they've settled with "It's like Total Annihilation in Space" description, which is reasonably accurate. It's got just enough 4X qualities to make the MoO fan in me pleased, and plays like a slower-than-average paced RTS.... but instead of a single map to defend, you gotta defend a moderate sized galaxy of maps!

If yer hesitant, wait for the demo, but I'm personally very happy I preordered this one. I plan on bumping up my order to get the physical copy for the collector's stuff, cause I'm a whore like that. (I talked to Stardock on the phone on Monday, they said anybody who preordered will have the option to upgrade after the game is released.)
