Morning Discussion
by Jeff "geedeck" Gondek, Jan 23, 2008 10:35pm PSTGood morning Shackers, hope the day finds you well.
Do you know how hard Nick works in the video mine every week? Let's just say he does it so you don't have to face the awful truth. Show your appreciation by checking out his latest Replay Couch . Also, Aaron brings word on some of the changes to GTA IV.
Even if you don't like the word "Blog", the results are rather nice:
Splinter Cell Blacklist co-op modes partially detailed
FIFA 14 on PC won't use Ignite engine
Ace Attorney Trilogy coming to iOS next week
Far Cry 3 editor jazzed up with Blood Dragon shinies
Epic Mickey 2 for Vita coming June 18

Take a look at the graph, even if these numbers are not spot on, look at the HUGE bar for DVD Rentals and Sales. Look at the barely noticeable bar for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD sales.
I also agree with his thought that this is the last generation for discs. After this huge fiasco with the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray war, the looming Profile 2.0 fiasco for Blu-Ray and the seemingly apathetic consumer attitude towards the HD formats, I'd say digital distribution and even DVDs are what will keep going strong.

If Sony had dominated MS again on the 2nd gen I think MS would have given up. Now MS has penetration in the consumer living room. That can be a scary thing for an competitor.
