Microsoft Details Undertow as Free XBLA Title

Microsoft has announced the details of the free Xbox Live Arcade game that was promised by Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten in response to the service's recent online troubles.

According to Microsoft's Gamerscore Blog, the peace offering will come in the form of Chair Entertainment's side scrolling shooter Undertow. The title will be available for free to all Xbox Live members from 2AM PST on Wedenesday, January 23 until 11:59PM PST on Sunday, January 27.

"If you have already purchased the game, you can contact support and they will take care of you," wrote Xbox Live programming director Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb. Xbox customer support can be reached by calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

Released last November, Undertow normally sells for 800 Microsoft Points ($10). For more on the game, which was inspired by creative director Donald Mustard's childhood drawings, check out our interview with Chair Entertainment.

The way I look at it is Microsoft didnt have to do a thing, so its better than nothing. I cant tell ya how many times my cable will go out and Comcast doesnt do a damn thing for you in fact they suck with customer support and giving you the, we will come down in a week to look at it.

You got Sunday's date wrong.

I still say points were the better way to go since some people already have this game and get nothing out of this and others may have zero interest in the game. I for one am looking forward to checking it out, but I can understand how other people may not be.
