Leisure Suit Larry Returns, Al Lowe Not Involved

A new entry in the innuendo-filled Leisure Suit Larry series is headed to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall, property holder Sierra Entertainment has announced.

Dubbed Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, the title details the exploits of Larry Lovage, the nephew of former series mainstay character Larry Laffer, as he goes to work on Laffer's movie lot.

Lovage first appeared in Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude (PC, PS2, Xbox), which was developed by High Voltage Software. It was the first Larry title made without Lowe's involvement and was met with a lukewarm critical reaction upon its 2004 release.

This time around, Team17, best known for its turn-based invertebrate battling Worms games, has been tasked with development of the open-world adventure. According to Sierra, the game will incorporate elements of "exploration, platforming, racing, and puzzle-solving" along with mini-game that lets players act as a director and make something referred to as a "Larry Feature."

Sierra has confirmed to Shacknews that series creator Al Lowe is not involved with project. After a mock retirement, Lowe was reported to have become quite disillusioned with the game industry following the cancellation of his last project, Sam Suede: Undercover Exposure, in 2006.

Written by Allen Covert (The Benchwarmers, Grandma's Boy, Eight Crazy Nights), Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust will feature the voices of Jay Mohr, Dave Attell, Shannon Elizabeth (pictured above), Carmen Electra, Artie Lange, Patrick Warburton, Jeffrey Tambor, Nikki Cox, Peter Graces, Jane Lynch and Josh Keaton. A trailer is slated to be released on Friday, February 15.

Magna Cum Laude was pretty fuckin funny - if not completely tasteless...

Even better that I played it at Volt during some xbox compatibility testing days - god those sucked.
