the latter is useless though. i find the former fun because it makes me want to keep playing the game after 2 hours. also have you not seen and cod4 scoreboards where say a level 7 was in first place overall against several higher ranking players including a handful of 55s? i have

Yeah, but if the game isn't enjoyable enough to keep you around after 2 hours, might be time to find a better game, in general, don't you think??

Agreed. Better weapons and armor shouldnt be unlockables.

The weapons in Vegas that you unlock aren't *that* much better though. Maybe the desert eagle and the raging bull pistols are but there are plenty of good guns.

Having said that I'm still trying to unlock the AK-47. God damn I want to be able to use that. I've died do many times while playing T-Hunt because I bent over to pick one up and got shot.

It's the Nom du jour for most FPS developers, apparently. I don't mind it but you raise an excellent point about even ground. I think it's a cheap, quick way for a company to look like they're adding something new to the mix when the reality is that this idea has been around since BF2 or earlier.

I much prefer the Enemy Territory model (I don't know how Quake Wars does it, I only played the original), where there was a 3 map campaign and you would earn experience to unlock stuff over the 3maps, and then at the start of the next campaign your XP would reset. Nothing permanent.

Quake Wars is the same. But achievements, awards and stats are persistent.

I'm really going to have to play this some time. I loved the original, for some reason I just never got excited about Quake Wars.

"taste of the day" translate into "goût du jour"
