New TF2 PC Maps, Achievements and 'Large Scale' Gameplay Shift Within 2 Months

Update: Valve's Robin Walker has clarified that the new maps will definitely hit the PC, but are undecided for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Team Fortress 2, which are only available in The Orange Box.
Original Story: Two new maps for Valve's Team Fortress 2 will hopefully arrive within the next two months, the studio has informed Shacknews.
One of the new arenas is a remake of Team Fortress Classic's Badlands map, with an emphasis on more vertically-oriented gameplay due to the presence of control points on towering spires.
"Our estimate is that both these maps should be out within the next 2 months," Valve employee Robin Walker told Shacknews. "We expect to ship other new content before that."
That other content includes the forthcoming Medic achievement pack, which will add several new achievements for the Medic as well as a significant gameplay tweak for the class.
"It's a large scale modification to the core of the game," Walker hinted. "It'll debut in a limited fashion through the Medic first, but it'll be affecting all classes eventually."
"We're really looking forward to the community reaction," he continued. "We're really excited about where TF2 will be going over the next year."

How in the world can you take one of the best CTF maps of all time(Badlands) and implement a boring progress bar CP system?
Why are there only six maps, and why are five of them CP, with only one as CTF? Why are there no actual fortresses except for 2Fort? When did this game become "Team Open Area Control Point"? Why are only 4 of the 6 maps decent? Why is it taking all this time to get two more maps out?
Where are the fortress maps like Rock2, Well, Canal Zone 2? Where is the actual deep control point play ,where you have to take a flag from your base to the cap point, creating random control points that provide more exicting and deepr gameplay, not to mention teamwork? Why is Valve enamoured with static control points with porgress bars rather than teamwork oriented "bring the flag to the CP" action?
Why does Valve feel the game needs a core modification? I thought this was one of the most playtested games of all time. Why does it feel like vAlve are playing a different game?
Why are there only 1000 people online playing this game right now?
We know why.
Valve, you are dropping the ball. The casual gamers have left, and you continue to ignoe the hardcore Team Fortress fans.
BRING BACK the "fortress" in Team Fortress. Man you guys completely ruined a beautiful thing. The game engine you built, along with the artwork and voice work is brilliant. Too bad you ruined it with the worst maps Valve has *ever* released, hands down. Think I;m wrong? Look at the large number of people who have completely bailed on this game. TFC was far more popular at this point due to superior maps. You insist on this absolutely benign and geneirc progress bar CP gameplay that has already proven to be a failure in non attack/defend maps (see Well and Granary).
Shame. Absolute shame that such a beautiful game engine has failed thx to stubborness from Yes-Men and fantasy-based office playtesting.
When will Valve get back to making great maps? Remember TFC and HL1DM,anyone? Brilliant maps. Every single person I have talked with who has left TF2 behind has stated the lack of gameplay modes and maps are the reason why.

1.) Each map is able to both be CP and CTF. The server admin will have the ability to control this.
2.) Grenades optional.
3.) MAYBE a voting system to control options.
4.) Classes will gain stuff that was present in earlier versions (ie: sickness for medics)
5.) LOTS of cool map remakes along with some new ones. (therock plz!)

Didn't they say that class specific achievements were coming and that the Medic would be the first to get them? I don't have a link handy but I am sure that's what Walker is on about here.
